A shared perspective.
From questions to compassionate action.
Joie Lamar, PhD, combines engineering, hands-on animal healthcare, and research through EBVEF: the Empathy Based Veterinary Engineering Framework. Her work connects compassionate design for companion animals with a wider examination of systemic cruelty and the belief that humans are superior to other creatures.
Her goal is to develop thoughtful innovations while challenging—and helping to undo—the practices and assumptions that perpetuate animal suffering. This site brings her research, inventions, and advocacy together in service of that purpose.
Read Joie’s bio and research purpose →Technical performance is one part of a larger story. An animal’s experience, a caregiver’s capacity, and the systems surrounding care also matter.
EBVEF provides the organising perspective for this platform: a place to connect Joie Lamar’s research interests with engineering, innovation, and responsibility toward companion animals.
